If you’re new to the peculiar world of green smoothies, but are intrigued by the idea of dramatically improving your health and your physique, then I encourage you to start out slowly. In the beginning, make your drinks less green and more sweet, by using more fruits than vegetables.

What Goes into a Green Smoothie?

The liquid base of a green smoothie is often either almond milk, green tea, or spring water.

For beginners, the “green” in a green smoothie can be frozen organic spinach and some fresh garden cucumber.

For improved texture (and minerals), beginners can add half of a frozen banana and a touch of coconut flour:

A green smoothie each day helps me to stay fit. Actually, I often have two a day — breakfast and lunch — though the recipes for each are completely different. Green smoothies give me the zest and inspiration I need for a good workout. A year and half ago, I started making fresh green smoothies loaded with vegetables from my local farmers market. I eventually dropped a ton of weight — especially along my waistline — and added muscle tone (see image above). I can’t remember ever having felt better, and I’m 47 years old.
