is an important process
(to say the least)!
Answering one particular question
can improve your outlook
and help you to live your life
to its fullest potential!
Planning your life is essential if you want to live life to the fullest.
One one hand, it’s good to live in a relaxed state and to be in the moment. So much of the struggle and stress in life comes from dwelling on the past or worrying about the future.
On the other hand, life can be more gratifying when you have dreams and use good planning to move toward your goals.

How to Plan Your Life
Many people have instant direction and momentum for their lives once they find their calling. However, not every person needs a “career” or a job that they feel passionately about — contrary to popular belief.
Yes, increasing your daily quality of life can mean figuring out what you want to do for a living. Some people will want careers, and that’s great.
But other people will merely want likable jobs-that-pay, while having a hobby or interest that they feel passionately about, outside their job. And that’s great, too.
Either way, a pivotal part of the planning process is to figure out what you feel passionately about.
Later, you can do some additional planning to figure out if that passion will be a career or hobby.
So much can be gained in quality of life, by the simple act of distilling and acknowledging what it is that we really want.
What you might find extremely helpful in creating your excellently effective new life plan, is the new e-Book The Numinous Journey, which can motivate you to tailor a successful self-improvement strategy that is a uniquely good fit for you:

A Question to Help You Live Life to the Fullest
Though this process is not always breezy, here is a good, simple, strategic question to ask yourself periodically, to make sure you’re absolutely on your path and actively fulfilling your own unique purpose:
“How would you apply your time and energy
if there was nothing holding you back?”
Do I really believe that a person’s daily quality of life can gradually improve by simply answering one pivotal question?
Yes. I do.
During the course of my month-long early-morning wake-up calls, I came to a realization that has really changed my outlook. So here’s another inspirational video moment taken from the 4:15 a.m. experiment I conducted earlier this year:
6 Steps to Planning Your Life
Marianne Williamson once remarked that, after the age of 40 a person no longer has the luxury of a “5-year detour.” This is where a life plan can prove immeasurably helpful: as you travel the journey of life and you reach a fork in the road (and there are always forks in the road) your life plan serves as a map to help determine whether to veer right, or left. This ability to correct course is essential for living an increasingly joyful, meaningful life.
Each person’s journey is different in each lifetime, so there is no exact blueprint that everybody can use to plan their life. However, there are general guidelines that may prove helpful to you for getting the process started:
#1 Ask Yourself the Big Question
Ask yourself the big question (see video above), “if money were not a factor, and I could do absolutely anything I want, what would I do?” The best way to answer this question is not to overthink it. Relax, and fantasize. Your answer to this question doesn’t have to then be literally enacted, it’s meant chiefly to lubricate your creative process and provide increased clarity into your life.
#2 Use Your Answer to the Big Question as Rocket Fuel
Use your answer to the big question (see #1, above) as inspiration to start crafting your goals — it’s a good idea to always have a dream that you’re in the process of achieving. First come up with your big outrageous goal, then work backwards, breaking that big goal into smaller and smaller pieces.
#3 Craft a Relationship List
Relationships! Essentially, the main reason each of us is on the planet for this lifetime is to remember who we really are by being in relationship with each other. Therefore, a good life plan includes a component of improving and enriching your relationships with other human beings. When you’re writing down your goals (see step #2, above) be sure to include a Relationship List and a Relationship Action Plan.

Each of us is on a different journey. Use the 6 steps for planning your life,
so that as you journey on your path you can avoid unnecessary detours and setbacks.
#4 Do Something You’re Good At
Identify what work you’re especially good at. It’s essential that each of us is working on improving our relationship with money — that’s one of life’s biggest lessons and to try to skip over that would mean missing a key piece of your personal growth.
#5 Honor the Sacred Vessel
A specific strategy for consistently improving your physical and mental health. Are you enjoying the miracle of your own physical body and discovering what helps it to operate optimally? What are your health and self-care protocols? Your body puts up with a lot from you, so do something that honors the simple fact that: without your body you couldn’t experience life on earth.
#6 Tend to Your Spirit
Developing a clearer connection to your own soul. No matter what your spiritual beliefs, it can be helpful (challenging, but helpful) to imagine that you will have a life review at the end of this lifetime. Imagine that when that movie is played back to you, you will be able to viscerally feel the impact you had on others’ lives. How can you make more of a positive difference in the world?

Dane, what advice do you have for those who may be struggling to answer this excellent and potentially life-transforming question?
Hi Kim! I think meditation, quiet reflection and solitude can be very helpful in clarifying what our true passions really are.
For the planning process, I’m a big believer in using consultants — counselors, life coaches, nutritionists, naturopaths… you name it! There are professionals out there who are excellent at helping people find their path (and keep on it).
Thanks for your comment!
Wow! Great video…..thought provoking. If $$ were not an issue at all for me — I would travel and dedicate my time. Clean water is the best drug on the planet– my passion would be to involve my family (mainly my 21 year old daughter and 20 year old son) in bringing some comfort to places where clean water is not taken for granted. I’ve lived most of my life in unbelievable comfort — I’d like to bring that comfort to others. <3 to you Dane!! Marilyn
Marilyn, thanks for your comment. I really respect what you said, “clean water is the best drug on the planet.” Profoundly true!
My theory is that people who are especially creative and intelligent will, in some ways, have a harder time honing-in on what hobby or career would most joyfully engage their organic talents — because so much seems interesting to them!
Balancing responsibility, ambition, and rest is where executing one’s resolution gets interesting!
My work in real estate has been most fulfilling over the years and I’m grateful for the opportunities I have to assist people in moving with ease from one home to another. Recently, I’ve been thinking about what additional activities and hobbies I might want to pursue in my life. I’ll keep you posted.
